Vladimir Minin started his carrier in one of the most honored musical teams of the country - the State choir of the USSR. He also was the art director and the main conductor in the Ensemble of song and dance of Northern group of Soviet army in Poland, later the art director and the main conductor of the deserved chapel "Doina" in Moldavia.
Meantime the Minin's own concept on specificity and development ways of choral art in Russia were formed. By his own words, the well-known composer Georgy Sviridov rendered the big influence on him. Minin made friends with him since the premier of oratorio " The Memorial Poem of Sergey Esenin ". Minin was charged to prepare it by Maestro Sveshnikov himself.
Later Minin formulated his credo as following: " I would like to create the choir which would consist not only of choristers, but of actors ". He managed to realize this idea by the end of the 60s, when he had been working on faculty of choral conducting in the Novosibirsk conservatory, later in the Leningrad academic chapel named after M.Glinka and in Moscow Gnessins' musical institute (nowadays the Russian academy of music) which rector he was.
In the Gnessins' institute Minin began to realize his idea -" choir of actors ", he staffed his chamber choir with students, post-graduates and professors. Later, when the choir has got its creative maturity, it was sometimes compared with the Moscow artistic academic theatre of its founders time, about which Stanislavski said: «… do not employ, but collect actors ".
As a result Minin managed to generate his own creative concept developing the best traditions of Russian choral art. The Minin's choir became the first choir who performed, after long years of oblivion, the greatest spiritual compositions of Russian classics, first of all " Vsenochnoie bdenie " (Vespers), Liturgy " Saint Joann Zlatoust", sacred works by Tchaikovsky, Grechaninov, Tcesnokov, Taneev. At the same time the choir included in it repertoire foreign music works, such as «Small solemn mess» by Rossini, "Gloria" by Vivaldi, “Stabat Mater” by Pergolese.
The best Russian singers sang with the Minin's choir: Irina Arhipova, Elena Obraztsova, Eugeny Nesterenko and Alexander Vedernikov. The choir to a certain extent became a symbol of Russia and consequently it was charged to record together with the Tchaikovsky Big symphonic orchestra the last version of the Russian Federation Hymn.
Vladimir Minin and his choir became favorites and the most welcome guests in Europe, Northern and South America, China, South Korea, Japan. However Minin does not stop with his achievements. After having achieved the bright theatricality in performance of spiritual, national and oratorical music, Minin engaged in theatrical genres. The participation in opera performances became a new activity of his choir, as well as in music for theatre. During last years on the European stages he takes part in staging and performing of Russian and foreign operas and even musicals, namely successfully performed «Westside story" by Bernstein.
