“COOPERATION WITH OTHER MUSICIANS” by Vladimir Minin

It is always the big happiness to sing with such soloists, as Elena Obraztsova, Zurab Sotkilava, Eugeny Nesterenko, Alexander Vedernikov, Paata Burchuladze. They are musicians of the highest level, they realize, what are paints of opera and what are paints of concert stage. For choristers it was a magnificent professional school.

But the choir repertoire sometimes dictated the cooperation not only with opera stars. When we planned to register Cranes by Yan Frenkel, I have addressed to Joseph Davydovich Kobzon, fairly believing that nobody else could cope with this task like him. J.Kobzon is one of the few who does not betray himself. He is very talented; he has a good memory, amazing musical capability. He listened so sensitively to my requests and remarks! Later our chorus performed the program of Russian songs with him.

Sometimes it happens, that at the rehearsal you constructed, conditionally speaking, a "building". But later the conductor came and, having destroyed it, started to build a new one. Then, sitting in the hall and listening, you get no pleasure and you suffer. It depends sometimes on work and conductor. But there are conductors with whom you have a happy unity. One of them is Saulus Sondetskis with whom we work practically from the first years of our existence. We rehearse separately, we have no common plan, but when we meet there is a total hit. He built with his orchestra the same "building", as I did with my choir. Our thoughts proved to be very close. There are few of such conductors.
